About

Dorothy Wiese began writing children’s books and joined Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) in 2013.  A devoted reader and writer, she taught secondary school and community college classes, including business education, for 32 years.  She received a B.S. and M.S. in business and education and an Ed.D. in education.  She and her husband worked on their farm for many years while they worked off the farm and raised a daughter and son.  She enjoys her six grandchildren and traveling.  Membership in SCBWI has been valuable in helping her improve her craft.  She participates in critique groups and takes writing classes; and she attends events, workshops, and conferences on children’s writing.  She received Honorable Mention from Writer’s Digest writing competitions in 2016 and 2015 and First Place from Litchfield Student Educational Foundation Children’s Book Writing Contest in 2015 for her manuscripts.  Laura Crawford introduced Dorothy to writing picture books and taught, mentored, and encouraged her to be active in SCBWI activities.
